Southern University At New Orleans And New Orleans Public School PartnershipLink: http://www.cgcs.org/promise/whatworks/reform/part15.html A collaborative program to implement the Comer School Development Program and enhance teacher preparation programs. In 1990, Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) and the New Orleans Public Schools (NOPS) formed a partnership, in conjunction with the Yale Child Study Center and the Rockefeller Foundation, to develop a viable, collaborative and cooperative project to replicate the School Development Program (Comer Process). The goals of the partnership are to implement the School Development Program (SDP) in designated schools, and to enhance the preservice elementary and secondary teacher education programs at SUNO to more effectively address the needs of inner-city schools. SUNO preservice teachers and social work interns participate in designated schools.
